Mario's Black & Grey Back Cover-up

Coverups require some thought and flexibility to come out well!

I’m planning to write a longer detailed post about what goes into a great cover-up project soon, so I’ll be brief about it here, but there are 2 core things that can make a really big difference in how well it turns out:

  1. Staying super flexible. After more than a decade of tattooing, I can usually offer a lot of insight into what will work and what will have a lot of ghosting or bleed through. The more flexible and open you are about how we execute your project, the more likely we’ll be able to tweak it for the best coverage while staying trie to the vision.

  2. Having an understanding of what the limitations are. More than likely, if you look reaaaaaallllllly hard, you’ll almost always be able to spot the cover-up. That’s just a reality. But with the right design, we can minimize that significantly and even make some of the ghosting appear to be part of the design.

Keep an eye out soon for more about cover-ups- how to think about them, what sorts of projects are best suited, and how to plan for a high-quality piece of artwork that will look great in the end. I’m working on getting that put together for you, but in the meantime, take a little peek at Mario’s cover-up back project!
